Neurocysticercosis
The brain of a patient infected with the parasite Taenia solium; the “pork tapeworm”. Cysts occur in the brain, eyes (opthalmic cysticercosis) and muscles after the tissues have been exposed to the eggs of the parasite. Seizures, headaches, involuntary movements, hydrocephalus (water in the brain) and dementia are symptoms attributed to Neurocysticercosis.
